Community Colleges
U.S. community college tuition and fees are approximately 50% lower than those at 4-year colleges and universities. If you intend to pursue a bachelor's degree, you can lower the total cost of earning your degree by taking the first 2 years of a university program at a community college. Most U.S. community colleges have “articulation” agreements with 4-year colleges and universities to allow students to transfer their community college credits to a bachelor's degree program. State universities often guarantee entry as a third-year student if the student has completed all course requirements for the first 2 years of study

To be eligible for a scholarship, a student must:
• Have been enrolled the final two years of his/her education at an EPISD high school.
• Meet all graduation requirements as specified by EPISD policy and set forth by the State of Texas by June of their graduation year (i.e. credits, TAKS, etc.).
• Have been accepted for enrollment by an accredited college or university.
• Must be enrolled for a minimum of 12 hours the first semester.
Additional Requirements
• Approved scholarships will be limited to a maximum of $1,000 per student.
• Scholarships will be payable to the college or university after proof of registration is provided.
Required submissions
• Complete application packet
• Two letters of recommendation. Dated and signed one-page letter of recommendation from a person
in authority, such as high school administrators, faculty, staff, community members, employer or civic leaders who are familiar with your abilities, work habits, integrity and potential. Letters may not be from family members.
• High school transcript as of January, 2013.

UT Austin
The University has determined that it will automatically admit all eligible 2014 summer/fall freshman applicants who rank within the tip 7% of their high school graduating classes, with remaining spaces to be filled through holistic review. Senate Bill 175, passed by the 81st Texas Legislature allows The University of Texas at Austin to limit automatic admission to 75% of the university's enrollment capacity designated for first-time resident undergraduate students.
