The Role of a Silva Magnet Ambassador
Silva Magnet High School Ambassadors are the official student representatives for the school. Ambassadors will serve as student hosts and hostesses at a variety of school and community events. The Ambassadors provide tours for prospective students, families, and other distinguished guests. Their main objective is to assist the principal or designee in activities to meet and serve school needs, give tours. The Ambassadors are to represent Silva Magnet in a positive manner for upcoming Silva students.
There are three different areas where students can serve as an Ambassador to Silva Magnet.
1. Silva Magnet High School for Health Care Professions
Responsibilities are to promote Silva and HOSA throughout the year via presentations, fairs,
Magnet Nights, provide tours for prospective students, families, and other distinguished guests
2. DREAMS Summer Pre-Med Program
Responsibilities include being available to work from 7:30 – 1:00 Monday- Friday during the months
of June and July as well as providing presentations to area schools, at health fairs and/or job fairs,
to promote the DREAMS Program
3. Teddy Bear Clinic/Adventure for the Future
Responsibilities include working with 5th grade students at the events, act as hosts/hostesses, tour
guides and are able to serve as a presenter when asked

Be Reliable
Silva Magnet High School Ambassadors are the official student representatives for the school. Ambassadors will serve as student hosts and hostesses at a variety of school and community events. Ground Rules for Silva Magnet High School Ambassadors
Be Reliable
- Arrive as promised
- Get there 10 minutes early
- Know where the activity is being held and who is in charge
- If asked to sign in and out make sure you always do
- Phone in – if you are ill or cannot attend for any other reason
- If you promise to find more information for someone make sure you keep your promise
- Sign up for activities on silvacoordinator.weebly.com
- Sign in at all events
- Turn your cellular phone OFF!
- Wear appropriate dress – make sure you have the right attire, i.e., Professional attire, HOSA, Silva Spirit, DREAMS
- Help the organizers throughout the day
- When working in a school or college make sure you understand any information you are given about local arrangements, rules and policies
- Make sure you have a named contact
- Teachers are responsible for discipline within schools. Do not undermine or contradict what a teacher has said. If you have any discipline problems refer immediately to a teacher, lecturer or the senior person in charge.
- SMILE!!
- Respect different opinions
- Be sensitive to different cultures
- Don’t interrupt or correct others
- Agree to disagree
- Respect confidential conversations
- But remember – NO SECRETS!!
- Don’t gossip about anyone
- Do not discuss, condone or admit to the use of drugs or any other illegal activity
- Do not condone, in any way, the excess use of alcohol
- Avoid any situation where you will be alone or unsupervised with a student
- Raise any concerns or problems immediately with coordinator or the person you are working for
- You should have a friendly relationship with the young people but you are not their friend. Do not have relationships outside of school, university or college; do not exchange addresses or ‘phone numbers.
- Do not arrange casual visits these must be organized formally with parental permission and health and safety checks.
